SCREENSHOT / SEPTEMBER 2026

Screen Toys collects Gavin Shapiro’s interactive experiments, including a wood-splitting simulation, a sliding puzzle and a chaotic reinterpretation of chess. Other entries lead to animated visualisers that can accompany music or fill a second screen.

Choose by preview

The homepage pairs each toy with a moving preview and a short explanation. Some are games with a goal; others are visual systems to trigger, watch or synchronise with music.

Start small

Try one project before opening the whole collection. A keyboard or mouse can suit some experiences better than touch, and several entries take you to a separate website.

For makers, too

The collection is useful as a reference for giving one interaction a strong visual response. Watch how movement, timing and physical comedy make a very small set of controls engaging.

Things to know

  • Graphics-heavy toys may run poorly on older devices.
  • Audio and flashing or fast-moving imagery vary by project.
  • External projects may have different controls and policies.
