City Roads takes a place name, retrieves its street network from OpenStreetMap and reduces it to lines on a blank field. The result exposes the grain of a city—grids, ring roads, cul-de-sacs and irregular historic centres—without labels competing for attention.
Making a map
Enter a city, choose the intended result and wait while the road data loads. Once rendered, adjust the appearance and export the line work when you want to use it as a design reference or personal print.
Reading urban form
Compare a planned grid with an older city or a suburban edge. Without labels, the relationships between block size, arterial roads, waterways and the city boundary become much easier to notice.
What the outline includes
The result depends on the selected place boundary and road data available from OpenStreetMap. It is a visual abstraction rather than a navigation map, and private or newly built roads may be absent.
